Walking the Tao – Chapter 50

There are three common responses to the reality of death: denial, obsession, or numbing. We chase youth and health with all our strength; we mull over the futility of death; or we just numb ourselves and neither really live nor fully die. Taoist thought has an alternative – to use the reality of death as a mindfulness cue to savor the “whole enchilada.”
