Walking the Tao – Chapter 1

Today, August 15, 2022, is my 78th birthday. I start again today on a journey I have taken numerous times throughout my life – a walk through the Tao Te Ching. As I take my journey through this precious little book, I would like to invite you to accompany me. Each day (most days) I will publish a short video of my reflections from a chapter. Each day we will take another small step along this wondrous path. It would be a delight to have company this time through. The videos will appear here on my website blog, and also on my YouTube channel. Eventually all 81 chapters will be available.

This little book of poetry has been my companion for more than five decades. I have walked along many paths and each has been an honored teacher for me. But beneath it all, Lao-Tzu’s words have been the foundation of my experience of the Divine Mystery, of the Tao that cannot be spoken. His words have been gateways into the Reality behind all concepts, opinions, and ideas. I am grateful beyond words to him. Wherever he is now wandering, “cloud hidden, whereabouts unknown,” I offer him a deep bow of thanks.

I hope you will join me, in your own time, at your own pace, for this walk. Today is the first small step on that journey. I’ll see you on the road.
