Walking the Tao – Chapter 17

We’re at our best when we know we are not separate, that we are in union with all that is. When we feel separate, it is best to have compassion for our separate self. Unhappiness and suffering arise when we mistrust, or even despise that separate self. So much of our experience is colored by that basic mistrust and hatred of ourselves. What if our basic orientation toward ourselves was that of compassion? How different might our experience be?
